Red Letter Week

This week marks a huge milestone in Fred's recovery from cancer. He has several appointments with the physicians who have been caring for him, including the radiation oncologist, the medical oncologist, the ENT surgeon, and his primary care physician.

The hopeful outcome of all these appointments will be his release from their care! Fred is considering going back to work this month. He doesn't have the stamina that he used to have, but I am sure his endurance will improve over time.

I am so happy that here we are - over a year from diagnosis - and Fred is doing pretty well. The biggest problem he seems to have is the dry mouth issue. Particularly at night his mouth dries out and so I hear him getting up for a drink several times nightly. He also needs gravy or sauce on just about everything he eats or else it is too dry to swallow. Dry mouth is uncomfortable, but it is a small price to pay when weighing the alternatives! He's alive and we are together and happy!
